Timelines for Promotions

While  timelines for promotions are never set in stone, here’s a look at some typical ranges for progression within content writing roles:

Junior Writer to Writer:

This initial promotion often happens within around 1-2 years. We look for demonstrated proficiency in the core duties of a junior writer and the ability to handle assignments more independently.

Writer to Senior Writer:

This happens within 1-3 years, with some variation. We expect to see consistent excellence in writing, the ability to mentor others, and potential for handling bigger content initiatives.

Senior Writer to Content Manager:

This step might take around 2 years. It’s about demonstrating an understanding of content’s role in broader business goals and the ability to analyze data, and gain the trust of clients and is suited for candidates who show strong leadership and organizational skills.

Director of Content:

This role generally requires significant experience and understanding of all aspects of content production and delivery. Expect a minimum of 4-5 years.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO):

Often, individuals would have held roles in other areas of marketing (PR, advertising, etc.) along the way. The expected timeframe could be 5+ years to build the necessary skills and gain extensive leadership experience.

Performance Reviews:

We conduct formal performance reviews quarterly and annually. This is an opportunity to discuss your achievements, goals, and areas for development with your manager. Your performance review ratings play a significant role in determining salary adjustments and promotion eligibility.

Salary Increases:

Salary increases are typically linked to your performance during the review period. Top performers can expect increases that outpace average adjustments. We aim to remain competitive in our employee’s markets and take into account factors like cost of living and inflation.

At Wisevu you will receive an automatic annual salary increase of 5% if you meet average performance review score of 75%. This is based on meeting KPIs described in the employee engagement letter and onboarding.

Top performers might expect increases in the 7%-10% range.
